Sundial Society
There is more to measuring time by the Sun than is apparent at first sight. Sundials are fascinating to study and they encourage you to think about the interaction between the Sun and Earth. The reproduction sundials offered here are fully working models and are useful as well as attractive. If you become hooked on sundials then please consider joining the British Sundial Society
Sundials Sundials
Sundials come in a wide range of types. These are all working models that look good and enable you to determine solar time. Comparing this with clock time gives a fascinating insight into the way our world moves around the Sun.
Diptych Sundials & Compasses Diptych Sundials & Compasses
Diptychs or Sundials for the pocket or purse

Quadrants with a compass, introduced in the 15th century, were the first
portable sundials. The compass served to face the quadrant toward the
north and the gnomon (a bit of cord or a flexible triangle) could be
raised or lowered to accommodate the latitude where the compass is used.
The golden age of sundials lasted from the 15th century to the end of
the 18th.
