This is how Orion describe the GX250: "Without doubt the GX250 is the most popular 250mm (10") Newtonian in the UK today. It’s design enables the f4.8 tube assembly to be stored very easily and it fits across the back seat of any family car. Optically, we hand figure the primary mirror to exacting standards to ensure you have available the finest optics to give you diffraction limited images from large nebulous galactic objects to the smallest planetary and lunar detail. As with all the Polaris range, they can all be controlled with either Quartz drives or the Skysensor 2000 PC computer.

The f/5.3 version of the DX300 is better for the planetary observer than the f/4. It has the same mount and accessory options as the f/4 version.

The DX300 is shown supported by Orion's 450mm high Aluminium pedestal and legs. This is the standard arrangement for clients wishing to use their telescope from a fixed observing site. For viewing from various different locations and irregular or strongly sloping sites we recommend the Field Tripod. This version of the DX300, f/4 is most suitable for predominantly Deep Sky observations and Photography. (Choose f/5.3 for more planetary-orientated observation.) The f/4 system is remarkably well figured to achieve excellent images; these can be further improved by the addition of a Coma Reducer which will greatly enhance the edge of field images for both visual and photographic use.

The GX mount is well-known for stability and accuracy and can be upgraded by the addition of motor drives and Vixen's Skysensor Computer Control System.
