Philips ToUcam Pro II Philips ToUcam Pro II  Ref: PH-toucampro2

  • PHILIPS
Probably the most popular webcam for digital imaging through a telescope. We used one for the Transit of Venus, both for white light and h-alpha, and were really pleased with the results. The ToUcam has also been used to remarkable effect on deep-sky objects as well as planets and the Moon.

It provides a low-cost option for doing some very impressive imaging, especially when used with software to stack and add images to simulate a long exposure. Suitable free software is Registax available from http://aberrator.astronomy.net/registax/

The ToUcam is supplied with its own lens for normal webcam use but this can be replaced by an adaptor to fit a 1.25" focuser. (See below for camera and adaptor combined)

Camera Features:

  • 1.2 Megapixel
  • Ultra-bright images at low light levels
  • Flicker-free video up to 60 fps
  • Built-in digital USB microphone

Price:   £79.00 (Including: VAT at 17.5%)

Webcam Kit 1 (Basic) Webcam Kit 1 (Basic)  Ref: GW-webcamkit1

Basic Webcam Kit
Philips ToUcam Pro II as described above, with 1.25" adaptor for use with all astronomical telescopes.

Price:   £90.01 (Including: VAT at 17.5%)

Webcam Kit 2 (Planetary) Webcam Kit 2 (Planetary)  Ref: GW-webcamkit2

Planetary Webcam Kit
Philips ToUcam Pro II as described above, with 1.25" adaptor for use with all astronomical telescopes, and with eyepiece projection adaptor. The light-weight eyepiece projection adaptor attaches to most 1.25" eyepieces to produce the higher magnifications needed for planetary imaging.

Price:   £110.00 (Including: VAT at 17.5%)

Digital Observing Kit No 1 Digital Observing Kit No 1 Ref: GW-dokit1

We are often asked to recommend a camera for astro-photography so have put together this high-quality kit that is suitable for use with any astronomical telescope that uses 1.25" eyepieces. It combines the Nikon CoolPix 4500 with a wide-angle eyepiece designed specifically for digital imaging and specially adapted to screw directly into the filter threads of the 4500.

Modern digital cameras such as the CoolPix 4500 are excellent for astro-photography, providing the instant feedback needed to develop your photographic skills quickly. The wide-angle eyepiece overcomes the vignetting problem that affects many digital cameras when used on a telescope.

Whilst long exposures require the use of a cooled CCD camera designed specifically for astro-photography, this kit is much easier to use and will produce stunning results. You can even add images together using suitable software to simulate long exposures.

The camera can be used off the telescope for all your other photography, and the eyepiece is supplied with a screw-on eyecup for wide-field visual use.

Supplied with a sturdy metal carry case, this kit is ideal for beginners and advanced users alike.

Digital Observing Kit No 2 (Astro) Digital Observing Kit No 2 (Astro)  Ref: GW-dokit2

Whilst our digital observing kit number 1 has proved extremely popular, many people have asked for a cheaper introduction to digital photography. So we've put together kit number 2 based on the superb Canon PowerShot A75. We've coupled it to the MaxView 40 eyepiece from Scopetronix to provide stunning results when used with almost any astronomical telescope. The adaptor that couples the camera to the eyepiece is a tube that fits around the camera lens and attaches to the camera body, providing a good solid support that is much better than adaptors that connect to the filter threads on the lens itself.

The kit consists of:

  • Canon PowerShot A75
  • Scopetronix STAK58 Adaptor
  • Scopetronix MaxView 40 wide-angle eyepiece
  • Aluminium Carry Case
The eyepiece is supplied with a screw-on eyecup so you can use it visually as well.

Price:   £424.99 (Including: VAT at 17.5%)

Digital Observing Kit No 2 (Leica) Digital Observing Kit No 2 (Leica)  Ref: GW-dokit2l

Leica Digilux 2 Leica Digilux 2 Ref: LE-18258

  • LEICA
The “analog” digital camera.

The new LEICA DIGILUX 2 camera combines the best of two worlds. In the new LEICA DIGILUX 2, modern digital technology and the proven concepts of traditional analog photography are joined in a harmonious combination: Decisive photographic parameters such as sharpness, aperture, focal length and shutter speeds can be controlled like those on a classic single-lens-reflex camera by means of setting rings on the lens and a shutter speed dial.

To ensure the best pictorial results, the lens, the sensor and the electronics are optimally tailored to one another. The 2/3-inch CCD sensor is very large for its resolution of 5 million pixels. This combination of a high-performance lens and a large surface per picture element produces extraordinary image quality.
